This year we have 22 students in our class - nine Year 3s and thirteen Year 4s.
In English, our Term 1 focus is informative texts which link to our History and Science units. Our reading and writing will be integrated into History and Science learning, as will our Speaking and Listening activities. The class spelling program will again use Spelling City which can be accessed at www.spellingcity.com. Each student has an individual user name and password to log in.
Maths outcomes this term cover Whole Numbers, Addition and Subtraction and Length. Ms Tully will be teaching Time and Visual Art on Thursdays.
This semester, our history unit looks at the early ocean explorers who contributed to the world knowledge of the land which became Australia. Students will also be learning about the original inhabitants of Australia, the lives of indigenous Australians and the impact of European colonisation on Aboriginal Australians. The conditions in England will be investigated and the unit culminates with learning about Captain Cook and then the First Fleet. This unit will be taught over two terms.
In Science, this term, Living and Non-Living Things is the focus area, and technology learning is integrated into the unit of work.
We will be doing Music, Dance and Drama throughout the term. PE lessons are scheduled for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, with Athletics for Sport on Friday. Scripture will be on Tuesdays with Mrs Gale.
