With only three full-time teachers, Iona Public School does not have a teacher librarian, but library skills are taught by classroom teachers as part of student learning about researching information. On Mondays, each class attends the school library to borrow. Each student needs a library bag to protect our library resources. A pillow slip makes a great library bag if a purpose-made bag is unavailable.
All students are encouraged to read daily, and a daily home reading program is conducted, with appropriately levelled books available for borrowing daily, and an ongoing reward program operating to recognise commitment to home reading.
